Over the past six years we have seen, very clearly, that there are many African scholars eager to participate in the debates of the social sciences. Our view, expressed in previous editions, is that African scholars are faced with many challenges to effective participation in a dialogue with scholars in the world, although advances in technological communication have facilitated the matter.
